Week 1 NFL Trend Report: Can Giants Keep Playing Underdog Spoiler?

Welcome to the Week 1 NFL Trends Report! This will be a weekly article where I provide you with my favorite trend for every single game that week.

In most cases, these will be playable trends that make sense to apply to your handicap. So, none of this silly “team X has covered in 75% of its non-divisional road games in October when playing at a stadium that has a retractable roof” crap. Trends like that with multiple qualifiers are almost always coincidental and anyone who sees value in them is not a serious person.

Instead, I’ll mainly provide trends that can be backed with stats that the NFL odds market hasn’t shown an overwhelming reaction to. For full transparency, we won’t always have a lights-out trend to consider back…

Broncos vs Bills MNF Prop Bets: Diggs Does it Best

A few weeks ago this MNF odds matchup wouldn’t feel as important as it is to either team. However, with the Buffalo Bills tripping over themselves against the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots in recent weeks and the Denver Broncos pulling off an upset of the Kansas City Chiefs two weeks ago, there’s a lot on the line here.

The NFL odds still have the Bills as a 7.5-point favorite despite hiccups on offense and inconsistency on defense, but Josh Allen is going to need to get back to his MVP-level play to cover. The key to a Broncos win will be their running back tandem, who have helped the team win two straight.

Find out where my free NFL picks lie tonight for Broncos vs. Bills in the Week 10 odds finale.

NFL Week 5 Picks & Predictions: Giants Prove Frisky in Seattle

October is my favorite month of the year.

While I love the shorts and flip-flops of the summer calendar, October’s “sweater weather” is where it’s at, especially for a guy who perpetually runs at furnace levels of hot.

Not only is October the most comfortable month (suck it May) but it’s got a lot going on too. Canadian Thanksgiving, Halloween, and my birthday all fall in the “Falliest” of autumn months.

But along with the changing colors of the leaves is also a change in betting markets and NFL odds. As the calendar flips, so does the value of betting underdogs each week.

In September, point spreads have more to do with last year’s results, preseason projections, and public perception, leaving the door open for undervalued dogs…

Phillies face D-backs for first time since 2023 NLCS loss

The Phillies will look to exact a small measure of revenge against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday when the teams open a three-game series in Philadelphia. Manager Rob Thomson's club had the Diamondbacks pressed up against the ropes in the National League Championship Series last October before Arizona recorded a knockout following a pair of road wins in Games 6 and 7. Bryce Harper had two homers, three RBIs and seven runs in the first five games of that series before going 0-for-7 with three strikeouts in the final two contests. Harper belted a pair of solo homers in Philadelphia's 5-2 setback to the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon. The Phillies, however, mustered just six hits and struck out 10 times en route to losing the finale of their three-game seri…

Kieran Trippier returns for Atlético in a derby with everything riding on it

“Totally unfair” Diego Simeone called it, but it’s over now.

When the Football Association handed Kieran Trippier a 10-week ban for breaking its betting regulations, Atlético Madrid’s manager asked why it should be his club that paid and how the institution passing judgment could be the same one “benefiting” from it, claims of injustice crystallising around the timing: the England defender would miss 12 Atlético games, including their first Champions League meeting with English opponents Chelsea, and conveniently return just in time for the next international break.

In fact, Trippier returns just in time for something bigger. Available again having not played since January, on Sunday afternoon he will …

Matthew Briggs: ‘I had been the league’s youngest player – I couldn’t ask why I wasn’t involved’

Before Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri it was Fulham’s Harvey Elliott, and before Elliott it was Fulham’s Matthew Briggs. For 12 years Briggs held the mantle of youngest Premier League debutant, feeling both the joy of the accomplishment but also its considerable weight.

“I’m proud to have had that title and I wouldn’t take it back for the world,” says the 31-year-old. “But there is a part of me that wishes I’d just progressed slowly up the ranks.”

Briggs was aged 16 years and 65 days when he replaced Moritz Volz in Fulham’s 3-1 defeat at Middlesbrough in the final game of the 2006-07 season. On the Saturday he had trained w…

Central Coast Mariners crowned A-League Men’s premiers after 2-0 win over Adelaide

Central Coast Mariners are premiers of A-League Men for the first time in 12 years after defeating Adelaide United 2-0.

Heading into Wednesday night’s clash the Mariners needed just a draw to finish the regular season in top spot and deny Wellington Phoenix their first premiership.

But there was to be no happy ending for the New Zealanders, with Jacob Farrell and Max Balard on target to secure the plate for the Mariners at a rain-soaked Industree Group Stadium.

Los Angeles Chargers (9-7) New coach Jim Harbaugh might need to go conservative to keep Justin Herbert upright while counting on younger talent to emerge in key roles. Denver Broncos (6-11) While making deposits into Russell Wilson's bank account, the Broncos are loaded with untapped potential and rookie Bo Nix. Denver hopes a 7-4 run to finish last season is a harbinger of success. Las Vegas Raiders (5-12) It's an uphill climb for Antonio Pierce, the interim no more after a 5-4 finish last season. Leave Tony Romo Alone! (Sob) He's A Human Being!

Eminem is back after a two-year hiatus (I know you've been waiting), and his new single, We Made You, should horrify Cowboys fans. Will the indignities never end for Tony Romo? Sure, we've got appearances by Sarah Palin, Ellen DeGeneres and Kim Kardashian, but Romo/Jessica Simpson lead off by playing catch with a hamburger and nasty dancing on the General Lee; just as I imagine things happening with them in real life. A scathing indictment of celebrity excess by someone who obviously lost money in his football pool last season. I'm no huge Eminem fan, but I do appreciate the part here where Mr. Spock wanders the Enterprise and randomly uses that Vulcan neck pinch thing on everyone he passes. Here's the video, which debuted this morning on MTV, if you care to parta…
