Inter to offer Jovetic for Candreva

Italian giants Inter are ready to return for Lazio star performer Antonio Candreva in the summer transfer market.

Roberto Mancini was eager to bring in the 29-year-old during winter, but Nerazzurri were put off by the €28 million asking price from Lazio chief Claudio Lotito and Inter are now ready to pursue an extravagant deal in order to land Lazio winger at the end of the season.

Rome-based club are not too keen to lose their key man, but Antonio Candreva reportedly feels ready for the next chapter in his career and will sit down to discuss his future with Lazio executives in the summer.

Candreva’s current deal runs out until 2019 and his transfer is likely to command another hefty fee, which Inter are willing to overcome with a swap deal that would includ…

Muniain never fazed by Messi comparisons

Athletic Bilbao forward Iker Muniain insists he has never been bothered by comparisons to Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

Muniain, a one-time Spain international, was once labelled the next Messi as he came through the ranks at boyhood club Bilbao.

The 23-year-old said the comparisons to the Argentina international never fazed him, labelling them exaggerated.

It was excessive. People are swayed by euphoria, Muniain told Radio Nervion.

It has never affected me. I ve always known who I am.

Muniain had a delayed start to the season after suffering a knee injury in April last year.

But, back playing for a side sitting seventh in La Liga, Muniain is eyeing a return for Spain, having not added to his debut cap earned in 2012.

Kazakhstan 3 Scotland 0: McLeish´s men torn asunder in Astana

Scotland s Euro 2020 qualifying campaign got off to a dismal start as Kazakhstan romped to a 3-0 victory in Astana on Thursday.

Alex McLeish s side won their Nations League group in November, sealing a qualification play-off place for next year s finals in the process, and they may well need that fallback option on this evidence.

Kazakhstan, 77 places below their opponents in the FIFA rankings, roared out of the blocks and were two up inside 10 minutes at Astana Arena through Yuriy Pertsukh and Yan Vorogovskiy s first international goals.

And those lessons were not heeded as Baktiyor Zainutdinov s headed third effectively put the contest to bed shortly after half-time.

1975 Today against Kazakhstan is the first time Scotland have conceded twice in the ope…

Ramsey wants Arsenal return?

According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Aaron Ramsey is viewing a return to Arsenal as his priority during the summer transfer window.

Juventus are said to be “desperate” to get the Welshman off of their hands after a stint that hasn’t quite gone to plan for either party. Still, Ramsey looked good for Wales during Euro 2020, leading many to believe that he still has what it takes to compete at the elite level in Europe.

A return to Arsenal always felt as if it could be on the cards and now, that’s beginning to manifest with the Gunners hoping he could give their midfield a bit more intensity.

Ramsey understands the culture of the club and, by all accounts, has missed being part of their community. If he can rediscover the love for the game he ha…

Albertini: Barca move was Ibra mistake

Demetrio Albertini believes AC Milan Zlatan Ibrahimovic did not succeed at Barcelona because he did not fit their style of play.

The Sweden striker joined Barcelona from Inter Milan before the 2009/10 campaign, but left Camp Nou just a season later for AC Milan. And former AC Milan defender Albertini who also spent one season at Barca feels Ibrahimovic made the wrong decision in moving to the Catalan club.

For me, Ibrahimovic is among the five best in the world. I just think that he didn t suit Barcelona s style of play, though, Albertini told Marca.

Barcelona play a certain style of football with set patterns. This philosophy doesn t suit him. He needs his space to make his individual actions, like he does at Milan now.

Zlatan is a real winner, but h…

Prediction: Racing Club vs Rosario

Best Odds: 3/5

Bookmaker:

Two sides who are seeking some Primera Division stability, Racing Club will welcome Rosario to the Estadio Presidente Peron on Saturday night.

Racing Club

Starting with the hosts, while Racing Club might have been last seen settling for a 0-0 stalemate away at Estudiantes, the Academy should still find the mood in their camp at a continued high. Although Fernando Gago’s men might have come under real scrutiny when opening the 2023 campaign, the Buenos Aires-based outfit are unbeaten in each of their last seven appearances across all competitions. Likewise, enjoying what has been a major Copa Libertadores flurry this season and breezing their way to the knockout stage, the former Aldosivi boss will be calling on his side to make a sta…

FFA reject Culina claims

Football Federation Australia have rejected claims made by Professional Footballers Australia in relation to Jason Culina and his insurance battle.

The PFA acting on behalf of Culina served FFA with legal papers to reportedly sue the governing body for AU$1.7million after it was revealed the marquee player had not been insured since his return to the A-League.

According to the league s collective bargaining agreement, the FFA are supposed to ensure that insurance is in place to cover wages for at least two years, in the case that a player is injured.

It is understood Gold Coast United failed to insure Culina when he was signed as their marquee player in 2009.

He picked up an injury at the 2011 Asian Cup in January and, as GCU had no insurance, they were …
