Del Bosque respectful of lowly Tahiti

Spain head coach Vicente del Bosque has insisted his team will prepare to play underdogs Tahiti just like they would for any other team.

Fans will flock to the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, expecting Spain, the reigning world and European champions, to destroy the French Polynesian minnows, who are ranked 137 positions below Del Bosque s team on the FIFA rankings.

Tahiti were thumped 6-1 by Nigeria in their opening game of the FIFA Confederations Cup, while Spain overcame Uruguay 2-1, but Del Bosque said he has not allowed his players to take it easy in the lead-up to their clash with the Oceania Nations Cup champions.

We have prepared like we would for any other game, Del Bosque said on Wednesday.

Get ready, know our game plan and study our rivals that…

Cahill laments ´blow´ of expected Terry departure

John Terry s expected departure from Chelsea will be a blow to the club on and off the field, says defensive partner Gary Cahill.

The Stamford Bridge stalwart may have played his last game for the club as he is suspended for the final-day fixture against Premier League champions Leicester City.

Terry announced in January that his contract would not be renewed and, though the 35-year-old has spoken of his wish to remain when new boss Antonio Conte takes the helm, his future is unclear.

Cahill told Sky Sports News:  It is [difficult to imagine the dressing room without him]. I suppose there was always going to be a time when that happened, but for me it was always going to be a blow.

No player is going to play on forever, and there comes a time where yo…

De Bruyne buyout clause revealed

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that Kevin De Bruyne has a buyout clause in his contract, according to the Mail Online.

However, the City boss has insisted that he is not for sale, describing him as an ‘incredible boy’.

De Bruyne moved to the Etihad Stadium from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015 and he has since racked up one hundred and forty-three appearances in all competitions, scoring thirty-five goals.

Franck Ribery believes that Jupp Heynckes has breathed new life into Bayern Munich since taking over from Carlo Ancelotti.

Since returning for his fourth stint at the German giants, the 72-year-old has guided them to four victories in all competitions and enjoyed a penalty shoot-out success in the DFB-Pokal.

The latest of those victories 2-0 against RB Leipzig at the weekend propelled them back to the Bundesliga summit, three points clear of Borussia Dortmund.

Ribery, who has not played since a 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin on October 1 due to a knee injury, has heralded the impact of Heynckes and believes he knows how to get the best out of the players at his disposal.

He gives the players self-confidence, speaks to us strongly, he has breathed new life i…

Moyes would love 11-year stay at West Ham

David Moyes would like to emulate his long-term Everton stay at West Ham but believes football has moved on.

Moyes makes his latest return to former employers Everton on Wednesday with the Merseyside club, much like West Ham, badly in need of points at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

The 54-year-old Scot made his name in management over the course of a respected 11-year spell at Goodison Park, paving the way for his appointment as Manchester United manager in 2013.

Moyes was sacked inside the first season of a six-year contract at Old Trafford and has since gone on to fruitless spells at Real Sociedad and Sunderland.

He is now faced with a job to restore his reputation at a club seemingly operating below its potential, although Moyes played do…
